Sustainability has always played an important role for the Lugina company, because we want to hand over our family-run business responsibly to the next generation. We are therefore committed to important sustainable issues in order to make our contribution to a more sustainable future.
For Waldläufer, sustainability has many facets. That is why we attach great importance to the processing of the highest quality materials as well as the shortest possible transport routes.
Our 7,000 m2 photovoltaic system on the roof of our factory at our main location, which has been in operation since 2010, also contributes to sustainable production. It enables us to cover the entire power consumption at the site – and thus produce in a climate-neutral way.
For us, sustainable commitment goes hand in hand with social commitment, and we are proud to have been able to financially support the KINDERHILFSPROJEKTE FATHER ALLAM GUNTUR/INDIEN e. V. in India for many years. Only recently, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Lugina Shoe Factory, an amount of 30,000 € was donated to India in the name of the managing director Willehad Bauer.
Among other projects, our donation can be used for the expansion of a homeless shelter, whose construction began in Guntur in 2013. The expansion shall provide space for homeless children. For us, supporting this foundation is a matter truly dear to our hearts. We have already donated a generous amount in 2010, on the occasion of the 50th company anniversary. Since then, children whose parents have died from HIV, find a new home in an AIDS-orphanage which has been built in India thanks to our donations.
We are delighted to be able to do sustainable good in social areas with this money.
